Easter Tree

I finally had the energy to work on some projects!

I started 3 projects tonight, and only finished 1.

But hey, it’s a definite improvement over the past few days.

After all inspiration that I got from last week’s Easter Inspiration Party, I had to make something with Easter eggs!

So I went with an Easter Tree.

It was super simple and inexpensive.

The eggs I bought, at Dollar Tree, even came with holes in them…I’m not sure if this is standard or not, because I’ve seen a couple tutorials where people have to poke holes in their plastic eggs.

Hopefully I can keep up this motivation tomorrow!

Weekend Update...A Little Late

So this belly just keeps getting bigger, and I keep getting less sleep. You’ll have to excuse the absence in posts this week. I just haven’t been able to keep my eyes open long enough to write anything! I think it’s time to invest in a body pillow!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

I did some shopping on Saturday and found these great vases at a new antique store down the street.

I’m not 100% certain what I’m going to do with the tall triangle vase. The “milk” vase, as Hubby called it, replaced a wine bottle on my kitchen wall.

I have a project in mind for the 3 large frames…I grabbed them at our local Red Racks for $3.99 each. I’ll be sharing that one soon.

On Sunday I joined the rest of the country in watching this…

Loved It!

I also found out that the girls over at Uncommon shared my GardenSigns on their Facebook page.

I was also given the Versatile Blogger award from Apples andPeanut Butter!

I’m supposed to pass the award on to several other bloggers. As soon as I narrow down my list of favorites, I’ll let you all know who they are.

If all goes well, I’ll be back tomorrow with a completed project…cross your fingers!

Weekend Finds

I just want to share with you a couple of my “finds” from this past weekend.

First was this chair and plant stand. They came with our house; we found them buried in the corner of the garage.

My mom and sister are going to recommend some sort of self sufficient plant to put on the plant stand. I’m picturing a very colorful flower pot with a plant that requires NO care whatsoever. (My thumb is as far from green as they come.)

Also over the weekend, I found a solution to this problem….

Yeah, that is exactly how many plates Hubby and I have been living with for a lot longer than I want to admit. It makes serving a nice family dinner a little difficult.

But thanks to our local Goodwill, I now have this lovely set of plates for just $6.50!

I bought them because I couldn’t beat the price and I loved the diner style they had. It wasn’t until I got them home that I noticed this…

So, I think that makes it a win/win!

Can’t wait to see what I find this weekend!

Grandma's Garden Signs

This weekend my sister and I gave my mom her birthday gift.

We gave her some garden signs.

We wandered the isles of Hobby Lobby looking for inspiration. (Always one of my favorite parts of starting a project.)

We settled on some unfinished wood blocks.

Hubby went to Home Depot to buy the wood for the stakes and hardware. (There is no way that Grandma’s Garden sign will blow away!)

After we painted the wood blocks with some acrylic paint, we printed the words on some Grafix Rub-onz Film. (I still need to buy a new blade for my Silhouette.)

Hubby and my sister sprayed them down with several coats of Krylon Polyurethane Satin Finish.

I can’t wait to see pictures of them in her garden!

Spring Wreath

I hope everyone had a great St Patrick’s Day. I tried (and succeeded!) making my first batch of corned beef and cabbage. If I had known how easy it was to make, I would have started making it years ago. Hubby even suggested we have it more than once a year.

We also celebrated my mom’s birthday. I’ll post more about her gift tomorrow.

I figured, since the holiday was over, it was time to take down the St Patrick’s Day wreath and hang a spring one.

I got the idea from a tutorial that I found on pinterest.

When Hubby saw it for the first time he said “I like it, it looks like a St Patrick’s Day wreath.”

Oops! I didn’t realize that clovers have white flowers that bloom in the spring.

I might have to add more color to it later. But today, these white flowers were the only ones I had on hand that were the size I wanted.

Night Sky

We had another beautiful night. And as an added bonus, we could see Jupiter and Venus in the sky.

Mobile Tutorial

I honestly can’t believe its March! I had to drag the laptop out onto the porch, because there is NO way I’m missing this beautiful weather to type up a post.

As promised, I’m giving you the step by steps of how I made the mobile for Baby’s nursery.

I started out with some simple supplies.

Yarn, Styrofoam Balls, Glue, and String

Start by tying a piece of string around the Styrofoam ball. Be sure to leave a nice long tail on the string.

Apply a coat of glue at the top of the ball.

Start wrapping the yarn around the tail of the string.

Keep wrapping the yarn around the ball. Make sure to press down on the yarn so that it stays tightly wound and pressed against the ball.

Continue to add glue and wrap the yarn.

I found that a cut piece of an empty toilet paper roll worked great as a stand for the ball. It’s pretty frustrating when the half glue covered ball wants to roll around on your workbench.

When you get to the end, cut the yarn and press it into the glue. I applied a small dab of glue to the end, just to be on the safe side.
