It Ain't Easy Being Green

Over the weekend, hubby worked on painting the nursery.  He wanted a darker green and I wanted a lighter shade.  We compromised somewhere in between shades.
And it’s green.
I mean green.

I mean really green.
I’m hoping that once we get things like furniture and décor in the room, it will feel less…green.

Flower Frames

I’ve had a project on my to-do list for a while, and I finally got to over the weekend.

I found the idea on pinterest. (Where else…)  But I couldn’t find the where the picture originally came from.

I dug theses 3 matching picture frames out of a pile at our local Red Tag Thrift store.  They were only $0.79 each!
I want to refinish the frames, but that will have to wait until after the baby comes.  I did give them a good cleaning with some white vinegar and water.

I found these vases at Michael’s for just $0.99 each!
I took some 18 gauge wire and wrapped it around the top of the vase.

Then, I stapled the wire to the frame on either side.
Make sure they line up before you staple them…I learned that the hard way and had to redo the second one because the vase hung a lot lower than the first one.  Oops!
I twisted the ends of the wire into a simple knot, just for a little added security.
Finally, I added some flowers that I had on hand.
My plan is to swap out the flowers with the seasons.

St Patrick's Day Wreath

Over the weekend, I got sucked into all the great St. Patrick’s Day décor.  I had to get in on all the fun!
I used a wreath that I already had, and took apart some inexpensive “clover” that I found at Michael’s.
I didn’t realize when I bought it, but the clover had glitter on it.
I’m not normally a fan of glitter, but I love the way it sparkles on the front door.
Look how lovely the paint job is on my door…the house came that way.
It’s on my to-do list…

Ordinary Craft Project

I didn’t really know what I was going to post about today, but leave it to hubby to inspire a little crafty project.
Last night, he curled up next to me with a good book and took out his bookmark…
Yes…that is a square of TP…

So I decided to make him a bookmark.

I know it’s not anything extraordinary,
But sometimes we’re inspired by the ordinary...

Nursery Ideas

I don’t have a new crafty project today, because hubby and I spent last night buying this…
That’s right folks, we are expecting!

Which means, besides being able to eat loads of food, I get to decorate a nursery!

I have been pinning like crazy.  Here are some of my favorites.

Bookshelf Crafts

I had a couple mini projects that didn’t really fit onto this month’s mantel.  Instead I used them on a bookshelf that’s in the living room.

Let’s all agree to not mention that I probably should have dusted before posting pictures all over the blog world…

The vase started out as the package for one of those fun wine glasses.
I just wrapped it in some fun scrapbook paper and tied a piece of yarn around it.

We’ve all seen these yarn balls all over Pinterest.
Yarn dipped in watered down glue and wrapped around a balloon.

Simple, cute, and did not involve a trip to Hobby Lobby.  (the last part made hubby happy.)

March Mantel

So I’m pretty much done with winter.  We really didn’t have one around here, and spring fever has officially taken over.  This is probably why I was more than ready to switch out the February mantel a few days early.
Say hello to March!
When I started this little project, I envisioned a lot more green.
For someone who loves green as much as I do, I really don’t have a lot of it…décor wise.
My goal was to not buy anything for this mantel.  It was really hard for me to not go to Hobby Lobby on this one.
